Foundational Literacy & Numeracy
Introduction
Foundational Literacy & Numeracy Mission is
under NIPUN AXOM (NIPUN BHARAT)
It will focus
- Providing access and retaining in foundational years of
- schooling of children
- Teachers capacity building
- Development of high quality and diversified
- Student and teacher resources / learning materials.
- Tracking the progress of each child in achieving
- learning outcome.
- Addressing the nutrition & health aspects of children.
FLN must be achieved by children by the end of class 3. By 2025 all children in country should be able to read & write properly and fluently.
It is launched by The Ministry of Education Govt of India.
#Tangel Age group 3 to 9 years.
Literacy Skills
- Oral Language development (skill of needing/writing
- Phonological awareness (rhyme awareness, word awareness
- Decoding (print awareness, word recognition)
- Vocabulary Coral vocabulary, reading/writing, workflows ana
- Reading comprehension (reading paragraph)
- Reading fluency (read text with accuracy, speed, expression
- concept about print (exposure to different print mich env.
- culture of reading/inclination towards reading (engage with a wide variety of book /library books/reading materials)
Numeracy
Numeracy & Mathematics Skills!
# Pre-number concept (count & understand number system)
# Numbers and operation on number
# Shapes & spatial understanding (compare with daily life activities)
# Measurement Measurement (understand +-x & apply)
# Data handling (identify repeating shapes/patterns simple data)
Important points for teachers
* Mandatory slot/class of FLN daily
*90 mins for Language. 60 mins for numerary.
* Mother tongue is to be used. use as A medium Also multilingualism in the classroom as a resource,
Teachers are free to design their own or use the existing activities and worksheets, toys etc for pre-determined early learning outcomes. Make extra activities for CWSN.
* Print rich environment should be created → word walls, story books, posters
* Use low cost of no material. cost and easily accessible
*Make varities of activities area. acting, area, creative area. reading area
* Display material at the eye level of students.
