POSHAN ABHIYAN
POSHAN ABHIYAN
Poshan Abhiyaan is a fantastic effort of the Indian government. On March 8, 2018, the Hon. Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, officially launched it in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district. Abhiyaan's main objective is to improve the nutritional status of adolescent girls, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children aged 0 to 6. However, at the moment, it is known as Mission POSHAN 2.0, which brings together the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS)—Anganwadi Services, Supplementary Nutrition Programme, POSHAN Abhiyaan, Scheme for Adolescent Girls, and National Crèche Scheme. The government's major programme, known as POSHAN Abhiyaan, aims to improve nutritional outcomes for young children under the age of six, teenage girls, pregnant women, and nursing mothers.
The Government of India's flagship programme, POSHAN Abhiyaan, uses technology, a focused strategy, and convergence to enhance nutritional outcomes for children, adolescents, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers. With the ultimate goal of eliminating malnutrition in India by 2022, the multi-ministerial convergence programme known as the National Nutrition Mission, also known as the Hon'ble Prime Minister's overarching strategy for Holistic Nutrition—POSHAN Abhiyaan—was started. Every year, the month of September is observed nationwide as POSHAN Maah to encourage public engagement and assure community mobilization. Its general goal is to raise nutritional knowledge and responsiveness among mothers of small children, teenage girls, pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as their husbands, fathers, mothers-in-law, and community members, as well as among health care professionals (ANM, ASHA, Anganwadi worker). The Ministry of Women and Child Development, the nodal Ministry for POSHAN Abhiyan, is celebrating the Poshan Maah in coordination with partner Ministries and departments, at National, States/UTs, Districts, and grassroots level. The goal of the Poshan Maah(Poshan Month) is to ensure community mobilization and bolster people's participation for addressing malnutrition among young children, women, and to ensure health and nutrition for everyone. This year, as India commemorates Azadi Ka Amrit Mahutsav, the entire month has been divided into weekly themes for a focused and absorbed approach towards enhancing Holistic Nutrition. This has been done to enable rapid and extensive dissemination.
