Do you ever know that Barsapara Cricket Stadium is known as Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Cricket Stadium, as well as Assam Cricket Association Stadium.
Located at Barsapara, Guwahati, Kamrup Metro
Assam, India, this stadium is used for cricket.The largest sports facility in
Northeast India is this one. India's 49th international cricket venue is
the Cricket Stadium. The cost of building the stadium as a whole exceeded
Rs 2300 crore. Sarbananda Sonowal, the chief minister of Assam, gave it his blessing
on October 10. India and Australia's T20I match was the first international
cricket game played in this location.
Earlier the stadium's
foundation stone was placed by the then-chief minister Tarun Gogoi in June
2004. In the presence of the then-BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah, he did it again
in July 2007 for the stadium's club house and stand.
In honour of Dr. Bhupen
Hazarika, the Assam Cricket Association changed the stadium's name in 2010.
